Who could abandon a pregnant dog with deformed legs? Well, this is the question The Cortland Community SPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement Department wants answered.
Little Lady, a possible Kelpie and reddish in color, was found on June 29, 2014, on the front lawn of a Cortlandville, New York, home. The homeowner contacted the SPCA and the organization immediately came to rescue the pet.
Three of the dog’s paws are so deformed that rescuers believe the canine had to be abandoned there by its previous owner because it is extremely painful and difficult for Little lady to walk on hard surfaces. She is able to walk on grass and carpet, but concrete, tile, and wood surfaces will make it almost impossible for the dog to move freely.
Since found, Little Lady has been under the care of the SPCA shelter and will be place for adoption soon.
Investigators have opened a case and are searching for the person(s) responsible for the dog’s abandonment, neglect, and injuries. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cortland Community’s Humane Law Enforcement Department at (607) 753-9386.
