Firefighters from Lima, Peru, were responding to a automobile collision when their rescue mission switched from rescuing humans to rescuing a canine.
La MOLINA 96 firefighting unit were responding to a car crash when a passerby informed them that a dog was drowning in a nearby retention pond.
The firefighters had already helped the persons involved in the crash and not being needed at the scene, they quickly rushed to the dog’s aid.
When hero rescuers arrived, they found a dog fighting to stay alive. The pet looked exhausted. His front paws were raw to the skin and his nails had been ripped off after the dog tried numerous time to scale out of the pond’s walls.
Firefighters pulled the dog from the water and transported him to a nearby vet where the canine received emergency care.
The Fire Unit posted on their Facebook wall that the dog appears to be a stray. He is healing and receiving proper cared by local veterinarians.
