The San Francisco SPCA is launching an initiative today, September 2nd, to raise funds for their shelter dogs. They will begin selling scarves and ties, with each item’s profits going to shelter dogs. One item will feed a single dog for 20 days, which is the average time it takes for a dog to find a new home.
The initiative is able to take place thanks to Bows-N-Ties, a popular online retailer that offers over 5,000 different neckties and bow ties. Bows-N-Ties chooses a charitable cause to get involved with each year and this year chose the San Francisco SPCA in order to raise funds for homeless animals.
The initiative’s goal is to raise $30,000 by the Holidays, an amount that will enable the San Francisco SPCA to feed 1,000 dogs until they find forever homes.
Six special designs were created just for this project, each screen printed by hand on the finest silk twill. The fabric goes on to be cut and sewn into very classy scarves and ties. All profits will be given to the San Francisco SPCA.
