Firefighters Rescued Bird-Chasing Dog From Canal

When Moxie, a curious dog from Sandwich, Mass., saw a bird, the canine did what comes natural to most dogs, it took off chasing the bird. However, the bird-hunting dog ended up in a canal after it plunged into the water trying to reach the bird.

On October 5, 2014, the Sandwich Fire Department received a frantic call from a pet owner saying the dog needed to be rescued from the canal. Immediately, the hero rescuers dispatched a rescue boat and within minutes Moxie was safe, once again on dry land.

Moxie was a bit cold and scared, but in overall good health. The pet owner said safety precautions will be taken in the future. Moxie will no longer be running off leash.
