A small dog that was left for dead on the side of a road has been rescued, and is getting the help she needs. Picked up by a Good Samaritan on the 29th of October, she had been left in crate. She’s now in the care of 4 Paws 1 Heart of Detroit, Michigan.
Organization co-founder Gina DeLuca said, “We decided to name her Katniss Everdeen, after a character on The Hunger Games. She has a lot of strength for survival.”
Katniss is a mixed breed, and is very underweight. She has trouble standing due to the way she was confined in the crate that she was found in. The poor thing has had to undergo surgery to remove some cloth material that she was forced to eat just as an attempt to survive.
DeLuca says that she is confident Katniss will make a full recovery. She does say it is going to be some time before she’s truly ready to start seeking that forever home she deserves.
4 Paws 1 Heart is asking for help in caring for Katniss. You can visit them at their website www.4paws1heart.org, or clicking on the link in this story. There are many animals on their site that need help, and are looking for forever homes and families. Any help is appreciated.
