Local Humane Society Seeks Help from Public in Neglect and Fighting Investigations

14 News, WFIE, Evansville, Henderson, Owensboro

The Henderson County Humane Society in Kentucky, along with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) are working together after several high profile dog neglect and abuse reports have arose from that area this past year.  They are making flyers and posting them everywhere they possibly can to get the word out about a way for people to report this abuse if seen, and remain anonymous.

A shipment of these flyers, targeting neglect, abuse, and illegal dog fighting were sent directly to the Humane Society of Henderson County from the HSUS.  Animal control officers spent a full day and then some posting the flyers everywhere for all to see.

They hope to give people a way to report the horrible abuse and neglect they may be witness to.  One of the main things they are looking for is help with the reporting of dog fighting cases.

The things they say to look out for are a large number of dogs on a property kept separated or put in individual cages, or any dogs seen to have much scaring on the face, chest, and legs.

“The dog fighting is what we’re focusing on right now.  It’s summer time, people are seeing a lot, more dogs are out, so we’re asking anybody with any tips to come to us and let us know about any weird situations they see with the animals,” said Courtney Dosche with the Henderson County Humane Society.

The Humane Society is offering up a $5,000 reward for anyone who has information that leads to the arrest and then successful prosecution of anyone involved in a dog fighting ring.

Anyone with information or looking for more on their anti-abuse and anti-dog fighting campaign can contact the Henderson County Humane Society at (270)-826-8966, or visit their website at www.hskcky.org.
