On January 8, 2014, an animal lover from San Diego found a female, Siberian husky stuck inside a storm drain. Authorities were called to assist with the pet’s rescue and Animal Services came to the dog’s aid. The canine was later reunited her with her owner.
The dog was trapped in an unusual position with only her head and one leg visible through the storm drain. It is not known how the canine enter the drainage system, or how she got stuck in the drain, but rescuers were able to get the pet back into the pipe system and coax her to walk towards an opening.
According to Daniel DeSousa, deputy director of the city’s animal services, a civilian “was strong enough to pull the grate up and away, and the dog was lifted out.”
The dog was wearing a pink collar but no tags. Once she arrived at animal control, she was scanned for a microchip and one was found. The dog’s name is Bella and she was reunited with her owners.
