“Nobody wants to take a dog that you don’t know what kind of life they’ve had,” Mariesa said. “He’s had a terrible life! He’s not been loved or taken care of as much as he deserves to be, and he’s still a wonderful, loving companion.”
Two dogs were abandoned inside their cages when their owners packed up and moved. Thanks to an Animal Control Officer, the pets were rescued and brought to safety.
Joseph, a sweet natured German Shepherd, has earned the affection of many in the US and even internationally. However, his story was not always so happy.
“Witnesses say the officers followed the dogs into the backyard,” Starr said. “One witness told me, ‘your animals were perfectly fine until we could no longer see them.’”
