A home from the east side of Detroit caught fire earlier this morning and local firefighters were called to the scene to help rescue four residents and a three-year-old Shih-tzu poodle named Cream.
A person walking in front of the house noticed smoke coming from the house and called the fire department. Once rescuers arrived they fought off flames and rescued the trapped residents.

According to firefighters, the dog was trapped in the room where the fire started and she suffered from smoke inhalation. Once the dog was pulled to safety, she was placed under an oxygen mask to try to stabilize her and was later taken to a local veterinarian.
“She’s still breathing. I’m hoping she’s alright. I just don’t want to go over there and see her all like that,” Michael Johnson, dog owner, told WWJ Newsradio 950.
Officials are still investigation the cause of the fire.
