Help Eddie Live His Last Days as a Happy and Loved Dog

Eddie is one of the 124 dogs from Olympic Animal Sanctuary (OAS) in Forks, Wash., that lived caged and without access to water and food on a daily basis, but thanks to Guardians of Rescue, his life along all of his jail mates’ lives changed when they were surrendered by their owner, Steve Markwell, to the organization on December 24, 2013.

Read “Life Inside Olympic Animal Sanctuary” and “Dogs from Olympic Animal Sanctuary Get Real Chance at a Happy Life” to learn more about the OAS dogs.

Unlike most of the AOS dogs who have been adopted or rescued by other animal organizations, Eddie is still waiting for his forever humans and home. The sad news is that Eddie doesn’t have much time left on earth to learn how it feels to be loved and cared for.

“Almost ten years ago, Eddie was born at Olympic Animal Sanctuary,” posted Guardians of Rescue on its Facebook page. “Since puppyhood he lived most of his life confined to a crate. His life finally began nine years later, the day Guardians of Rescue took custody of him. Ironically, Eddie was just diagnosed with an inoperable malignant tumor on his thyroid.”

The organization is now pleading and hoping this dog, who has only known abuse, gets a chance to move into a foster or forever home before he loses his battle to cancer.

“We want to find a special home for Eddie so he can live the rest of his life out in peace and dignity,” said Guardians of Rescue. “He is a great companion, loves people, but does not like other dogs or cats. He lived over nine years in competition with other animals for a morsel of food, a pat on the head from a caring volunteer, and any scrap of attention.”

It is believed Eddie might only have a year left to live, but his rescuers hope that with the right owner to love him until his last days, Eddie might pull a miracle and live longer.

Anyone interested in making Eddie’s last wish come true can contact Guardians of Rescue at 888-287-3864 or email info@guardiansofrescue.org. Eddie’s transport will be provided by Seattle Dog Spot to an approved home.
