Police Officers Rescue and Adopt Dog Found at ATL Airport

On April 16, 2015, a sweet female Pit bull believed to be about two-years-old was found tied to a pole in Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport. The dog spent a few hours abandoned in the parking lot, but thanks to police officers, the dog was rescued and has found a new home.

“She was tied up and sitting under a Mercedes. She was covered in dirt, obviously for a couple of hours,” Khern Forde, Hartsfield-Jackson landside operations supervisor told WSBTV. “People probably walked past her for hours. They probably didn’t take it seriously.”

The abandoned dog was reported by a good citizen who saw her in the parking lot. Forde and other officers headed towards the parking lot and rescued the abandoned pooch. The pet was wearing a collar but had no tags and a microchip was not found. Officers named her Daily.

Forde said abandoning a dog in the airport’s parking lot is not a good way to get rid of a dog. There are other options – much safer options – to relinquish a pet. The officer fell in love with Daily, but he already owns three dogs and his girlfriend told him they cannot adopt another dog. Luckily, Tina Cunningham, one of Forde’s coworkers, also fell in love with the Pit bull and adopt her on Friday afternoon.

Forde’s has a message for Daily’s previous owner:
“You had your time with her, you didn’t value her life because you left her at a parking deck. I don’t need to find you because I may look at you different. I may charge you.”
