Bad cops like abusing their power, but when they are caught in the act, they must pay the consequences just like regular criminals do.

On June 14, 2015, Brett Arthur Berry, a Minnesota deputy was caught on security cameras abusing his K9 partner, Boone, while the two of them attended a K-9 certification event in Carlton County.

In La Paz, El Salvador, a stray dog named Oso who lives around the Santa Maria Ostuma police station, saved all on-duty officers from a gang attack, when the dog fought off gang members forcing them to flee.

Diogi, an almost nine-year-old German Shepherd, served New Jersey’s Police Department for seven years as part of the K-9 unit, but his career was cut short after the canine officer was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

The news of the terminal illness didn’t come easy for Diogi’s human partner, Officer Joseph Van Pelt, but nevertheless, Van Pelt loved and honored his four-legged work partner until the dog’s last day.

On Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, Police Officer Wendy Bryant, from LaGrange, Ga., and her K9 partner Chico, a Belgian Malinois, were hunting down escaped felon Lester Sullens in a wooded area when the four-legged officer went missing. The fugitive was apprehended and told police he fought off the dog and left him tied to a tree, but when authorities went to retrieve the dog, Chico was nowhere to be found. The dog was found more than 48 hours later, when little hope of finding him alive remained.
