Dirk van der Sterre, owns and manages FTC-FBO, a private airport terminal at Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey, and from time to time, he helps Home for Good Dog Rescue (HFG) transport homeless animals from Georgia and North Carolina to the Northern states. There, these unwanted pets get ready to move into forever homes.

Van der Sterre is an animal lover and when an opportunity presented itself to help these pets, he didn’t hesitate.

A Boca Raton, Fla., dog named Robin, spotted an iguana during her walk with owner Will Betterton, and as any other playful dog, Robin wanted to chase the iguana. Unfortunately, the dog broke from her leash and ended up struggling to stay alive in a canal.

Betterton feared for his dog’s life because Florida canals are usually homes to alligators.

A tragic car accident in Montgomery County, Fla., left a black mixed dog paralyzed. Ordinary people would have given up on him and turned to euthanasia, but this dog’s touching story moved many animal lovers and the paraplegic dog was given a second chance. He is now loved and on the mend.

Toni Caiazzo was one of the first people to approach the dog after he had been hit by a car. Being an animal lover herself, the woman took the dog to an emergency vet clinic for help.

The Bill Foundation had been contacted about rescuing a Rotty mix mama and her puppies.  Without enough room to house them, they were at risk of being put down.

On the way to the shelter, the team spotted a frightened dog tied to a fence a block away from the shelter.  To avoid paying a surrender fee, many dogs are dumped here.  This girl needed some help, too, so she was brought in.

On August 18, 2014, Tim Clifton, director of Animal Control in Clarksville, Tenn., rescued a tiny dog dumped in a garbage container. At first Clifton couldn’t identify the dog’s breed because the Yorkshire terrier was covered in blood, grease and trash. Nevertheless, the small pet was rushed to a vet clinic where his life was saved.

On August 21, 2014, a Pit bull mix gave California drivers an evening to remember. The pooch was running loose on the 710 Freeway and Los Angeles area commuters joined forces to rescue the dog, avoiding a tragic accident.
