For a New Jersey Chow mix dog who escaped his 2nd-story apartment, his freedom went as far as the length of the apartment building’s 2nd-story ledge. The pet was spotted stranded on the ledge by neighbors, and they called local firefighters to come rescue the dog.

A street dog in Guayaquil, Ecuador nearly lost his life in a sewage canal that was too steep for him to climb, had it not been for the lone, redeeming human being who noticed him struggling and got him out and onto dry land.

The dog was soaking wet, filthy, uncomfortable, and obviously unable to scale the embankment.  He kept trying to get up, and looking towards everyone to help him.

Sierra, a 16-year-old Siberian Husky from Morristown, Tenn., ran away while her owner, Jimmi Winstead, was in Florida on vacation. Neighbors and strangers rescued the pet three days later, after the dog was found stuck in a drainage pipe.

Cliff Grant the tiger cub was accidentally hurt by his mom, so he needed to be separated while he was rehabilitated. While he was getting better, workers at the zoo where he was decided he needed a playmate, and introduced him to Prada the dog. The two quickly became best friends, and now they play all the time! Zoo keepers are so confident the two won’t hurt each other, that they even let them play by themselves!

No one knows why a man in Cartago, Costa Rica, decided to attack a gentle, mixed breed dog with a machete, but the animal abuser did just that and inflicted six deep wounds on a sweet dog. Somehow the pet survived the gruesome attack. Today, he is known as “Machi” and is expected to make a full recovery.

On August 9, 2014, a brown female mixed terrier is believed to have been maliciously thrown from a moving vehicle traveling on New Jersery’s Parkway. The dog was hit by another vehicle but it miraculously survived and now police is searching for the dog’s abusers.

The Connecticut Humane Society in Waterford wants to know who abandoned a sweet-natured, two-year-old, female Boxer just a short distance away from their front door. The dog was found tied to a post with just two feet of slack, but what surprised rescuers is that instead of being tied with a leash the pet’s previous owners used an electric cord.
