Neighbors Rescue Abused Strays Needing Medical Attention

There is no reason to abuse animals, but somehow animal abuse happens daily. In Cartagena, Colombia, two stray dogs were rescued by neighbors and transported to a local animal organization after the pets were found in excruciating pain.

The first dog was doused in hot water and sustained third-degree burns on his torso and front, right leg. The stray was also beaten with an unknown object, and the beating left him with a broken leg (same leg that sustained most of the burns).

The Dickerson family, from Greenbrier, Tenn., have a routine they follow each and every day. They wake up, get the kids ready for school and then the parents set off for work, but on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, something or better yet, a four-legged someone, was going to change their routine.

When Mr. Dickerson was leaving for work, he heard the cries of a dog coming from his yard, he went to check on the noise and found a puppy frozen to the ground underneath his shed. Immediately, Mr. Dickerson melted the ice and rescued the small pet.

A couple from Pennsylvania were driving on Route 209 in the Marshalls Creek area on March 1, 2015, when they saw a black Pit bull lying on snow, unable to stand on his own. The dog seemed hopeless and if it wasn’t for the couple, the stray would have died within hours.

The good Samaritans picked up the dog and took him to AWSOM Animal Shelter, where staff couldn’t believe the extent of his abuse.

When Trinity was found last month in Lexington, Ky., she was scared, hungry, pregnant and injured. The stray dog was caught in a hunting trap and lost her right rear leg. She somehow free herself from the trap and wandered into a law office in Floyd County, where Good Samaritans rescued her and took her to Woodstock Spay and Neuter Clinic.
