Two Puppies Defy Death in Trash Bag

On April 25, 2015, Lon Benner from Tacoma, Wash., discovered a trash bag with a Pit bull mother and her 11 puppies in it. Sadly, all but two puppies survived, now police investigators are asking the community to step up, bring justice to these animals and help them apprehend the criminal(s) who killed the puppies’ mom and their nine siblings.

Police Stops Van Transporting Cage Puppies on Roof

The Steiner family from Nova, Ohio, had no idea transporting caged puppies on their minivan’s roof was illegal, but thanks to dozens of calls to 911 and quick acting officers, the family was stopped and the traumatized puppies rescued.

Community Saves 15-year-Old Dog Tossed in Garbage

Miriam Jimeno and Carlota Román from Valladolid, Spain, knew something was wrong when they heard muffled barks coming from a nearby garbage container. When the two woman came close to the large metal box they knew for sure there was a dog trapped inside the container. Someone tossed a pet in the locked automatic garbage disposal and the pet had no way out. Luckily, the women and other concerned neighbors called for help and authorities came to save the dog.

Authorities Rescue Dog Living in Back of Truck

Thanks to concerned neighbors, a dog that spent three months living in the back of a truck in Arica, Chile, with no access to the outside world and limited access to food and water has been rescued by animal rescuers and police officers.

The black dog has never seen the inside of his owner’s home. Neighbors called authorities to report the abuse and officers were dispatched to the location. When they arrived, they found a malnourished dog living among garbage and his own feces. The pet had no food or water at the time and had little shelter in the back of the pick up truck.

Couple Saves Emaciated Dog Freezing on Side of Road

A couple from Pennsylvania were driving on Route 209 in the Marshalls Creek area on March 1, 2015, when they saw a black Pit bull lying on snow, unable to stand on his own. The dog seemed hopeless and if it wasn’t for the couple, the stray would have died within hours.

The good Samaritans picked up the dog and took him to AWSOM Animal Shelter, where staff couldn’t believe the extent of his abuse.

Police Officer Adopts Dog He Pulled from Abusive Home

On February 17, 2015, police officers from Alicante, Spain, were called by neighbors who heard the frantic cries of a dog. When the officers arrived they found a small dog in excruciating pain and an owner who said he had no idea why the dog was crying. The officers pulled the dog from the home and arrested his owner for animal abuse.

Rescuers Help Pregnant Dog Set on Fire

Big Dog Ranch Rescue (BDRR) from Wellington, Fla., is helping a pregnant dog recover from extensive burns to her torso after the dog was purposely set on fire.

Authorities don’t know who could have committed this cruel act, but they believe the terrier mix named Taya (previously Nina) was forced to walk through a fire or thrown into one.

Woman Drowns Puppy at Airport Before Boarding Plane

Cynthia V. Anderson from Edgewater, Fla., was departing from Nebraska’s airport on January 23, 2015, with two older dog and three Doberman puppies, but after authorities informed her she would not be able to board the plane with the puppies because they were less than three weeks old, the woman drown one of the dogs in an airport bathroom.

Judge Rules Against Men Who Tied Explosives to Stray Dog

On January 1, 2015, seven men committed an unforgivable act. They captured a malnourished stray dog, attached explosives to his torso, and detonated them killing the dog. Al,l while video taping their criminal act to later post it on YouTube. Fortunately, the crime was reported and justice was served.

Almost Frozen Pit Bull Is Brought Back to Life

On January 7, 2015, a resident of Wilson, N.C., spotted an emaciated pit bull tied with a heavy chain to a plastic crate. Because of the record low temperatures of that day, the concerned citizen feared the neglected pet wouldn’t survive one more night exposed to the cold, and therefore contacted For the Love of Dogs NC to rescue the dog.
