Dog Trapped Underneath Light Rail Train Stops Traffic

A stray dog from Tempe, Ariz., stops traffic when it became trapped underneath a light rail train in the crossing near University Drive and Rural Road. Luckily for the pet, police officers were able to rescue the canine before perishing in a tragic accident.

Stevenson, a Sharpei mix was picked up as a stray in the city of Chicago. When found, he was dirty, hungry and underweight, but what surprised Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) was that he could hardly keep his eyes open to see, yet somehow he was surviving on the city streets.

Pit bull Seeks Safe-Haven at Fire Station

On Monday, June 30, 2014, an injured three-year-old female Pit bull, walked into Philadelphia’s Engine 9 Ladder 21 Fire Station with the last strength she had in her body. The canine, named Guenevere by the firefighters, had been severely injured around her neck and was close to dying, but thanks to Firefighter Ryan Craig, that Monday was not the last Monday of her short life.

The injured dog wanted help, and somehow knew that in a fire station she would find the help she desperately needed.

I-35 German Shepherd Gets Rescued and Adopted

On June 25, 2014, Dallas police officers chased an unusual fugitive down Interstate 35. The runaway was smart, hairy, and very fast on his four legs.

Commuters started calling authorities as early as 7:30 a.m. informing them of a German Shepherd running down I-35. Officer Charles Timmons and Sharifa Williams were dispatched to the scene to try to control and capture the canine, but the dog turned out to be too smart for its own good and the officers requested Animal Control Officer Eric Pogue as backup.

Olive, a three-year-old Chow mix had been living in an abandoned house and hadn’t been able to eat, drink water or breathe right for several days, because her head was stuck inside a plastic container. Her life changed when a Good Samaritan from Detroit, Mich., saved Olive’s live when she contacted the Michigan Humane Society to get the poor dog rescued.
