As word spread of a blind New York man and his brave guide dog that helped protect him when he fell onto the subway tracks earlier this week people were touched. When they heard that Cecil Williams could not afford to keep Orlando when he soon retired they wanted to help. Donations started pouring in and now Williams will be able to afford to keep him if he chooses to do so.

“We sailed into the yard and saw him. He was standing there and trembling, but wouldn't move away from his place,” Yelena said. “But when he saw us he was so happy. We took him into the boat and he rushed to lick us. We all were so happy.”
Sandy Lewers went to the Humane Society to pick up her missing cat when she heard the bark of Willie, a paralyzed dog that had been abandoned over a month ago. Lewers would end up returning home not only with her cat, but Willie too.
Cecil Williams was at a Harlem subway station Tuesday morning when he became faint. The blind man’s guide dog Orlando tried everything he could to keep Williams from falling, but both ended up falling to the tracks below. A train was headed their way and the only thing the two could do to survive was to duck between the rails as the train passed by.
