Paramedics Equipped with Pet Oxygen Masks Save Two Chicago Dogs

On June 26, 2014, Patchy the Pit bull and Bella the Shih-tzu, from Chicago’s south side, were pulled from a burning home and revived all thanks to quick acting firefighters and city paramedics equipped with pet oxygen masks.

Eight-Pound Chihuahua Survives House Explosion

A Thornton, Colo., home exploded on June 19, 2014, claiming the lives of a man and two dogs. However, Snoopy, an eight-pound Chihuahua survived the ordeal and is recovering at a local animal clinic.

When the explosion took place, neighbors Robert Russell and his son Noah were at their home, two houses away, but the deafening sound and the strong vibration startled them, and they rushed over to see what had happened.

Cop Breaks into Parked Truck to Save Dog

All responsible pet owners know not to leave his or her loved four-legged best friend inside a parked car during summer days. Cracking the windows does nothing to alleviate the rising temperature inside a car, yet more often than not, many pets are left inside hot cars and unfortunately die.

On June 15, 2014, heroic Police Officer Peter Lown from Wrentham, Mass., broke into a parked truck outside a Wrentham Mall parking lot to save the life of a dog that had been left locked inside the parked hot car.

Dog Needed Rescue after Injuring Paw Pads

On May 31, 2014, Fin a nine-year-old husky lab mix, injured his paws while on a three-mile hike with his owner Julia Jones in the Sandia Mountains, New Mexico. The injury stopped the pet on his tracks and police officers were called to rescue the pet and help carry him down the trail path.

It was 90 degrees on that day and Jones along a friend decided to go on a short hike.

Driver Saves Injured Dachshund from Interstate 75

The morning of May 31, 2014, Sherri Johnson was driving on Georgia’s I-75 when she spotted a small dog on the road.

“He was just sitting there, looking back and forth as if to decide which way to run,” Johnson told WSBTV.

New Life for Ten Emaciated and Mange-Covered Dogs

On May 31, 2014, Lauree Simmons, president and founder of Big Dog Ranch Rescue saved ten malnourished and mange-covered dogs, all dachshund mixes, that were living in a Hialeah, Fla., home.

The dogs were just ten of 50 animals living in deplorable conditions. The canines were rescued after a police officer investigated the natural death of one of the home’s residents.

Paralyzed Pit bull Puppy Left for Dead Recovers

On April 9, 2014, Brandi Glaske, founder of Saving Argo Dog Rescue, adopted a paralyzed Pit bull puppy left for dead on a Michigan road. Today, the dog whose previous owners abused her, leaving her paralyzed, is a happy, healthy dog with the hopes of walking on all fours one day again.

Firefighters Rescue Mastiff Trapped Under Boulders

On June 17, 2014, Khaleesi, a ten-month old bull Mastiff from Barrington, Canada, chased a cat into a backyard near its home in Riverhead Road. In the yard, the cat hid in between the gaps of large boulders and the dog followed thinking she too could fit. The canine, a few dozen times larger than the cat wedge herself in between the gaps and became trapped.

Mary Ferguson, the pet owner, placed a call to local firefighters as soon as she caught up to her pet and found her confined in between the large rocks.

Nine Homeless Puppies Saved from High-Speed Road

On June 11, 2014, the joint efforts of a Toms River, New Jersey, woman, police officers and animal control officers saved the lives of a homeless Jack Russell terrier momma dog and her nine puppies. The family of ten were saved from a certain death on a high-speed road.

German shepherd Almost Drowns Trapped in Sea Rocks

In Mallorca, Spain, Yanko, an elder German shepherd, was rescued by firefighters from a rocky shore in Marina de Bonaire Cocodrilo, where the pet was trapped.

No one knows exactly how it happened, but it is believed the elder canine was walking along the rock wall when he slipped and became trapped in between the large sea boulders. Yanko’s head was the only thing visible, and the only way to free him was to pull him under water.
