It is very common to find alligators in Florida’s ponds, but on December 30, 2014, a Shepherd/Alaskan Malamute mix was found trapped in the mud of a pond near the Central Florida Fairgrounds. The unidentified dog is now known as Gator and thanks to two heroic officers, the pet is alive today.

On December 30, 2014, Canadian firefighters in Peel Region rescued a German Shepherd from the frozen waters of a pond, after the pet walked on top of the thin ice and fell through.

A 70-year-old woman risked her life by jumping into the frigid waters of Avon River in Bath, England, after her Jack Russell Terrier fell into the water and struggled to stay alive. Thankfully, both woman and pet were pulled to safety.

In a Brazil, a terrified dog was trapped in shallow canal. The flowing water had a fast current and the dog sought refuge a top accumulated garbage in the middle of the canal. Thanks to concerned neighbors who spotted the distressed dog, the pet was rescued.

On October 16, 2014, a group of 8th grade students from Bergman Academy, in Des Moines, Iowa, became heroes when they rescued a light colored dog trapped in mud. The teenagers were jogging around the drained Greenwood Pond as part of their gym class when they stumbled upon the pet in need.

The trapped dog wasn’t alone, he had a buddy with him who was standing guard and looking quite worried seeing his canine friend stuck helplessly in the muck.

In Argentina, two men jumped into the Gualeguaychú River to save a chocolate Labrador that became entangled in a buoy. The dog struggled to stay afloat and almost drowned, but thanks to the heroic men, who didn’t think twice about jumping into muddy water, the canine is alive and well.

On August 5, 2014, 23-year-old Adrian Garcia from Guayaquil, Ecuador, became a hero when he took his shoes off and climbed over a fence to descend a canal’s steep, concrete wall, to rescue an innocent dog that had fallen in and couldn’t climb out to safety.
