In Rajasthan, western India, a stray dog was completely covered in tar and it laid motionless on the side of the road while the thick substance cooled and solidified making the canine a living rock. Luckily, the dog was spotted and Animal Aid Unlimited was called for help.
On May 31, 2014, Winthrop, Wash., residents witnessed how Okanogan County’s Swiftwater Rescue Team retrieved Jessie, a border collie-heeler mix, from the bed of a pickup truck that had rolled into the Chewuch River.
This military style rescue mission took Eldad Hagar of Hope for Paws three days and involved driving more than 1,000 miles and an unyielding willpower to save four dogs that would have otherwise died from infections or starvation in the Mojave Desert.
