“He was obsessed with shortening sticks and tearing up any cardboard he could find. He was extremely meticulous and many a vacuum cleaner died trying to tidy up his messes.”
“An incredibly doting husband and wife team of empty-nesters are excited to start a new family with Beignet and Gumbo,” the Helen Woodward Animal Center’s webpage stated.
“We heard something coming from the rubble so dug down where the sound was coming from and we found her there,” said rescuer Dave Barritt. “It amazing that she could come out of that looking so well.”
“He kept saying, ‘Save the dog first.’ I kept saying, ‘No, we're going to save your life first and then the dog, your life is more important,’ but he insisted on pulling up the dog first.”
“You could tell she was the happiest dog in the world,” Jackie Kane said. “And for that dog to trust us, to have that kind of bond with us is beyond words.”
