The St. Louis Police were called out to the 4700 block of Hammett Place to respond to reports of a female, chocolate-colored puppy being rescued from a dumpster left to die Thursday night. The caller heard the dog whimpering as they were passing by.
Two women heard howling coming from a trash container and when they looked inside they saw a dog with all four legs taped together. The woman saved the pet.
“The three of us were in the highway, trying to stop traffic, but we weren’t thinking of that,” Lisa said. “We just knew we had to save the puppy, because if we didn’t, then he was going to be killed.”
Dogs born with a cleft lip and palate rarely survive. Stitch got a second chance in life thanks to a rescue group. He is now inspiring others suffering from similar health issues.
