University Gets New Mascots, Three Stray Dogs

Three stray dogs from San Juan, Argentina, now have a better life thanks to San Juan’s National University students and its security team.

The three strays, named Negrita (Black), Victor Hugo, and Batman, used to roam the streets surrounding the university, until one of the strays was injured by a car and needed medical assistance.

When Jadiel, Fernanda, Francisco, Montserrat, Saúl and Juanito, found an injured puppy in their town, Valle del Puebla, Mexicali, Mexico, they knew just what to do. They picked up the dog – that had a mangled rear leg – cared for him, and turned to adults for help. However, they didn’t turn to their parents for help. No, they called a local radio program, Radiopatrulla, and asked for help.

Canine Fire Survivors Continue to Wait for Homes

Back in April we told you about a massive fire that destroyed 2,900 homes in Valparaiso, Chile. While the fire left many humans homeless it also affected many house pets and stray dogs. Out of the devastation came hope, when a group of concerned animal lovers organized an emergency shelter area to treat and care for the many dogs that lost their homes and owners, but until today, many of those pets are still waiting to be reunited with their original owners, or adopted into new loving homes.

Pregnant and Handicap Dog Abandoned in New York State

Who could abandon a pregnant dog with deformed legs? Well, this is the question The Cortland Community SPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement Department wants answered.

Little Lady, a possible Kelpie and reddish in color, was found on June 29, 2014, on the front lawn of a Cortlandville, New York, home. The homeowner contacted the SPCA and the organization immediately came to rescue the pet.

Abandoned Dog Transformed by Loving Care

Wilbur (2)In July, 2013, Wilbur was found abandoned on a driveway, cooped up in a small kennel with several cats. He and the cats were in bad shape but had at least been dropped off in a public place where they would be found.

Emaciated Ky. Dog Rescued and Saved

On July 10, 2014, Hank, an emaciated five-month-old pooch weighing less than 30 pounds was found wandering a Louisville, Ky., neighborhood. Neighbors found the sick dog and knew he needed immediate help. Concerned for the pet’s well being, residents reached out to various animal rescue organizations until they found one who agreed to help nurse the dog back to health.
