Three children turned into heroes when they walked near an abandoned well and overheard the cries of the animals. Thanks to them, the dogs were rescued.
People that actually witnessed the event, say the man got back into his truck, threw it in reverse, nearly backing up over the dog as it tried to jump back in.
No one knows when or where Delbert was abandoned but he had obviously been without food for weeks when he finally found his way to the rural road where ARFhouse
Surveillance video from a home near where the dog was dumped off shows an SUV driver dumping the dog, then driving away. Lucky for this dog, it happened to be right near a home with active outdoor cameras that caught almost the whole thing.
“My assumption is that that harness had to be cut off from her, it didn’t just come off because it had grown into her neck so far,” Mark Plyter of the Humane Society of Wayne County said.
“When we were cleaning her up, I actually saw a tear come down her face. I’ve never seen that before. This dog was in a lot of pain, and I think she knew it was going to be the end. I told the dog that I wouldn’t let her die.”
