Most pet owners have a hard time leaving their dogs behind every day to go to work, but for Lisa Owen-Jones from Stoke Newington, north London, leaving her dog Florence home alone was just heart breaking. The 20-year marketing veteran decided her Wire Fox Terrier and their happiness came first, so she quit her job and opened her own coffee shop where she is able to bring her dog to work every day.

Last month, many neighborhoods in Nogales, Ariz., flooded and the rising waters forced area residents to evacuate leaving everything behind. Thirteen-year-old Manuel Andres Sierra couldn’t leave without rescuing Bones, a six-year-old Pit Bull.

Some might say that Bones is not the most friendly dog, but to Sierra, the pet is his companion, friend and protector.

Back in February of this year we told you the story of Nikko, a street dog from Cartagena, Colombia, and Vanda Hale, an American citizen from Arizona. Hale met the street dog while she vacationed in the tropical city over Christmas break 2013. She fell in love with the black mutt and decided she had to rescue him and bring him home to Arizona.

A Peruvian dog named Gringo (slang for American) saved the life of his owner and many others when he alerted them of a dangerous fire that consumed their homes a month ago. The hero dog suffered major burns but his heroism didn’t go unnoticed. A local veterinarian took over the dog’s care and saved the pet’s life.
