Hades, a pit bull from Oregon City, Oregon, saved his young owner Jesse-Cole Shaver after a swarm of bees stung him more than 20 times.

On Sunday, August 24, 2014, Kye, a three-year-old German shepherd K-9 officer for the Oklahoma City Police Department was killed in the line of duty when chasing down a burglary suspect. The dog was put to rest with full honors four days later, and hundreds of police officers and animals lovers were present to show their respect for the four-legged officer.

A 13-year-old Miniature Pinscher named Sabrina has saved her owner, firefighter Curtis Young, from cancer two times now. The first time was in 2005 when the dog discovered a growing tumor on the back of his head, and the second time, this year, when the 11-pound dog discovered Young’s skin cancer on his back.
