On October 17, 2014, a stray dog trespassed a bank’s air-conditioned ATM room in Lambaré, Paraguay, because he was looking for a cool place to rest. It was well over 104 °F (40 °C) on that day it  and the dog just wanted a comfortable place relax. A passerby spotted the dog next to the ATM machine, took a picture and uploaded the image to Twitter. The image went viral, and next thing you know, the stray dog found a forever home.

Most stray dogs get scooped off the streets and find forever homes after they are found injured and in great need. Some have such sweet demeanors that their forever homes are found when the pets win over the hearts of an animal lovers. Rarely do we hear anyone say that they want to offer a stray dog a forever home after the dog has bit them. Well, in Brazil, a soccer player decided to do just that after a stray dog interrupted their professional match and bit the player in mid game.

Virtudes, a Spanish woman, lost control of her car and fell 98 feet off a cliff but no one other than her loyal dog Canelo saw the accident. The woman spent 20 hours trapped inside her car at the bottom of the precipice before getting rescued.

When volunteers from Secondhand Hounds met Coen at a Kansas, Mo., shelter on August 10, 2014, they couldn’t believe how badly injured this dog was. Knowing that if left behind the dog would get euthanized, the Minnetonka, Minn., animal rescue group decided to bring him back home, help him heal, and give him a second chance at life.
