Luckily, Wogan’s family and community came together to find the missing dog and reunite him with his young owner.

Lucy, a boxer from eastern Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for Amy and Darryl Costello. The couple jumped into action to save the dog’s life when they over heard on their fishing boat’s radio that Lucy had fallen from a cliff and was being washed away from the cliff’s rocks were she was clinging to life.

University Gets New Mascots, Three Stray Dogs

Three stray dogs from San Juan, Argentina, now have a better life thanks to San Juan’s National University students and its security team.

The three strays, named Negrita (Black), Victor Hugo, and Batman, used to roam the streets surrounding the university, until one of the strays was injured by a car and needed medical assistance.

Dog Owner Forces Pet to Wear Collar Made of Bricks

Twenty-six-year-old Arunas Kastentinavicius, from Perry Close, Staffordshire, faces animal abuse and cruelty charges for allegedly forcing his dog, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, to wear a heavy collar made of broken bricks and black tape.

The discovery made by shoppers of Mothercare in Stoke-on-Trent, received a lot of media coverage after photographs of the abused dog wearing the heavy collar went viral on the Internet.

Six Children Save the Life of an Injured Stray Dog

When Jadiel, Fernanda, Francisco, Montserrat, Saúl and Juanito, found an injured puppy in their town, Valle del Puebla, Mexicali, Mexico, they knew just what to do. They picked up the dog – that had a mangled rear leg – cared for him, and turned to adults for help. However, they didn’t turn to their parents for help. No, they called a local radio program, Radiopatrulla, and asked for help.

Canine Fire Survivors Continue to Wait for Homes

Back in April we told you about a massive fire that destroyed 2,900 homes in Valparaiso, Chile. While the fire left many humans homeless it also affected many house pets and stray dogs. Out of the devastation came hope, when a group of concerned animal lovers organized an emergency shelter area to treat and care for the many dogs that lost their homes and owners, but until today, many of those pets are still waiting to be reunited with their original owners, or adopted into new loving homes.

Stranded Dog Rescued from Lagoon

On July 21, 2014, Tom, a terrier mix dog from Chaco, Argentina, got stranded on a small island inside a lagoon. His owner, Marta Avila, was desperate to rescue him, and having no one to turn to, she called local animal rescue group, Fundación Pequeñas Huellitas, for help.

Catholic Dog Participates in Religious Festival

In Motul, Yucatan, Mexico, a dog joined Catholic parishioners during mass and throughout the town’s procession celebrating the Virgin.

For believers, “La Virgen del Carmen” is celebrated with a large festival that takes place during July 15 – 17. Daily masses take place and on the last day, a large celebration with traditional folkloric dances, prayers, and a procession is held.
