Gladis Silgado is alive today thanks to her loyal dog who barked and woke her up while her home was consumed by a ravaging fire. The woman never imagined that after having a heated discussion with her neighbor, Cristóbal Montero Medina, the man would try to kill her and her teenage daughter by setting their house on fire, but that’s just what happened in Cartagena, Colombia, on April 9, 2015.
Zeus, a dog from Schenectady, New York, is lucky to be alive today. The canine survived a massive fire this past March, when an apartment building located on 102 Jay St., caught on fire. Firefighters found the dog eight days later when they were combing through the debris and spotted the pet peeking through a 4th floor window.
“We were able to get up there and lure him out with a little bit of pizza of all things,” Schenectady Fire Chief Raymond Senecal told WNYT News.
A home from the east side of Detroit caught fire earlier this morning and local firefighters were called to the scene to help rescue four residents and a three-year-old Shih-tzu poodle named Cream.
A person walking in front of the house noticed smoke coming from the house and called the fire department. Once rescuers arrived they fought off flames and rescued the trapped residents.
